So the race build begins on July the 4th, i thought I'd start a new write up on the rebuild now i have also moved in my own house and i be biking to work i can get cracking on it every Sunday when i can.. I'll start by showing a picture of Hedwig and how he looks now.

I went for a fairly race look but want more of a race look alike to the Mini Miglia and the power with it in time.. I have been to a couple of the Mini7/Mini Miglia events and that's caught my inspiration. This is all new to me and is still going to be a challenge in some areas of the transformation.
I have been ever so busy moving house so I thought it would be a good opportunity to send P822HWG off to the spray shop. The job list for him was a new passengers door skin cause the old one had started rusting on the bottom, a VW metallic black roof and arches to match, a few minor rust spots caught before they get worse and bonnet pins and battery cut off switch attached. The bonnet is also going to be strengthened slightly as its going to be fixed with bonnet pins I’d rather it not wobble around when I am on the track.

So far, next on the list is to get P822HWG an MOT and start adding the vinyl race stickers to which I still have on order the Mini Miglia/Mini 7 racing club, door number stickers and windscreen strip to get the finished look on the outside, plus I will also be painting the bumpers, grille etc in Matt black for the race track look, including the 13 inch wheels as they soon need tyres they will be stripped properly and then the lacquer sanded back and then a few coats of paint added. I have to try and fit all this in between a few shows this month coming IMM and Mini in the park where I shall be removing a few heavy items which won’t be needed in the racer project anyway, and it will also be going down the Santa Pod strip this coming August. I also had a chance to get the roll cage I was after delivered, which will need painting, in red to make it stand out inside the car. So bucket seats and harnesses will be on the list. I had it put together on the drive as my mate who I got it off helped me familiarize with it so it falls together when it comes to fitting it to the car.
